Say NO to Texting

24 Mar

Many people who know me, know I’m the BIGGEST anti-texter, you’ll ever meet. Those who don’t know this about me…soon find out after they send me a text.

So why am I so anti-texting..here’s the deal. I find that many people use texting as a means of avoiding Conflict..for instance, you’re super late meeting your friends and you’ve been called 40 times and don’t answer your phone but will send a text..or you and your BF/GF are beefing and you don’t know if they’re ready to ‘talk’ so you text..I’m all for confrontation! I say bring it on. Don’t be scared to have to tell the truth or dare I say it, be challenged to conversation.

Texting can be convenient & a useful tool. Let’s say you’re in a place where you can’t use the phone but need to communicate with someone. You can text multiple people with the same information rather than making the same call more than once. As I said before, texting can be a useful tool you should embrace, not look at in a negative way.

Yikes, I am one of the biggest texters/instant messenging/blackberry messaging people and I can’t stop! For instance, if you’re on a bus, and you don’t want everyone to hear your convo, then yes, messaging is a good thing; however, you and I have beef and you want to have a text fight: not a good look.

People avoid conflict even if they are on the phone. I have a friend that always says, “I just have to grab my bag and put my shoes on” everytime she’s late and has been keeping someone waiting. People who have an avoidance attitude are like that no matter the situation.

I feel that texting is a great communication tool, but there’s nothing like that voice on the phone! :-)

I agree with Ang. How can you embrace myspace, facebook, twitter, email, and even your own websites but neglect texting.

Why should I login to any of those mediums to write a quick message when I can just send a message directly.

    Look at the positives.

Doesn’t BBM count as almost the same as a text message? If so you should be anti-bbm…lmao
